About Fausto Felix, NYC’s Best Bachatero

BIOGRAPHY

Fausto Felix is a world renown Latin Dancer, Choreographer, Director, Dance Coach and Instructor He specializes in Latin Dances such as; Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Dominican Folklore, and Acrobatics. Fausto owns and directs a Latin dance company, La Fuerza Dance Company, which also includes La Fuerza Kingsmen. The La Fuerza Kingsmen is an all guys dance crew that has taken the Latin dance scene by storm.

Fausto travels the world teaching and performing to a new style he created called “NY Style Bachata”. This is a Latin dance fusion of Traditional Bachata, Hip Hop & Street Style Merengue. He also founded, dances and manages one of the most prestigious competitive championship Latin dance companies composed of all star NYC dancers called “The NY Movement”. When he initially learned about dance, he committed himself to learning and studying many forms of dance and movement including Dominican Folk, Salsa, Hip Hop, Merengue and Bachata to name a few. Born to Dominican parents, Fausto is the product of New York’s Boogie Down Bronx.

He first broke into the world of dance in 2002 when he was 17 years old, as a member of El Conjunto Folklorico of Alianza Dominicana which is based out of New York City in Washington Heights. Throughout his career he has choreographed and danced with artists like Romeo Santos, Raulin Rodriquez, Luis Vargas, Anthony Santos, Maite Perroni, Milly Quezada, Fernando Villalona, Joseito Mateo, Elvis Martinez, and many more, performing across the world in all continents.

Fausto trained closely with one of the best known folklorists of the Dominican Republic and the United States, Leonardo Ivan Dominquez. Fausto was in one of the most prestigious salsa/mambo companies in New York City, the great Santo Rico Dance Company led by its director/dancer/choreographer Tomas Guerrero - a pioneer in the international mambo scene. Fausto has also trained closely with Salsa World Champion Anya Katsevman, Nelson Flores, Billy Fajardo, Tito Ortos, & Tamara livolsi, to name a few. Fausto’s teaching has focused on the history of dances in Dominican Folk, Bachata, Merengue and Salsa which he has exhibited throughout the world promoting the true art, culture, and essence of these dances.

In an effort to establish the art of Salsa and Bachata as a legitimate professional dance genre, Fausto has sharpened his technical repertoire and decorated his dancing career with competition titles such as World Salsa Summit Champion, San Fransisco Salsa Champion and New York Salsa Champion. He has infiltrated the commercial dance world by dancing alongside mainstream artists such as Maite Perroni and Luis Vargas. He has performed at the world famous Madison Square Garden, Prudential Center, Warner Bros. Studios, Telemundo, Telefutura, Teatro Nacional de Republica Dominicana, Premios Juventud and a multitude of other events and locations. More recently he embodied his roots as a principal dancer in Hollywood’s silver screen version of “In The Heights.”

Not taking this gift for granted, his experience in dancing allows him to constantly reinvent himself and reach untapped markets through education; often collaborating with professionals around the world and teaching workshops at public schools, universities, community centers and well-known dance education facilities. Fausto believes dance is for all ages: from children to adults and even children at heart, from a novice to the most experienced performer. Persistence, dedication, and mentoring have allowed him not only to do what he loves, but also to foster the ability to constantly use his creativity. Anyone who sees him move feels not only his immense energy, but his genuine enthusiasm for the art.

Dance is not easy - it takes a lot of heart, courage, humility, blood, sweat and tears! You’ve got to live it in order to own it!
